Employee Profile - Meet Jonathan
dESCO is pleased and excited to officially introduce you to Jonathan Frei, our Director of Marketing and Business Development. Although he has only been with the company for 7 months, he has made a great impression on the team. Not only is he known as the guy who will eagerly take on anything dESCO puts in front of him, he is also known as the brave soul who likes to tempt fate in the name of exercise. We are in awe of Jonathan riding his bike to and from work almost every day, even though the Florida summer weather relentlessly wreaks havoc with daily thunderstorms and heat index temperatures that can reach over 100 degrees.
What did you do before coming to dESCO?
I worked in Sales at a Business to Business online marketing company by the name of MediaBrains.
What is your favorite part of your position here?
I like to be creative and try out new ideas in order to market ESC to potential customers. It gives me an opportunity to use my degree in English Writing as well.
Where did you get your degree from?
Franciscan University of Steubenville, where I received my MBA.
What do you like to do the most outside of work?
I like to spend time with my 1 year old Matthew and my wife Gabriela.
I see that you also like to read at lunch time. What book are you currently reading?
I am currently reading City of God by Augustine but just finished up The Catcher in the Rye for the third time. I enjoy The Catcher in the Rye because when I read it I think the whole time that I’m the opposite of Holden until I realize, I’m the same.
Besides riding your bike, do you enjoy any other outdoor activities here in Florida?
I like to kayak down the Estero River.
Have you seen any alligators while paddling down the river?
No, but I ran over a large alligator once driving down the highway at 3 a.m. It was so dark that I didn’t even see it until it was too late. It was like going over a speed bump. The car was fine but unfortunately the gator did not survive.
I know Florida is not your native home, where did you grow up and what was your favorite thing about living there?
I actually spent 10 years of my youth in Hong Kong. My parents were overseas missionaries so I was given an opportunity that most kids are not. My favorite thing about growing up there was being the only kid with blonde hair and being a foot taller than everyone else in my class.
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Now and Next
If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Elliot Chase. Elliot is actually my middle name and I like it much better than my first.
What is one thing about yourself you would like everyone to know?
I guessed the end of the movie Inception. LOL
